George Michael (born June 25, 1963 – December 25, 2016) is a popular British singer and songwriter of a Greek father from Cyprus and a British mother. He was called the King of Pop in his country and sang pop and pop rock. He was a member of Wham! Who became famous internationally in 1982 achieved his greatest musical achievements in the album Faith, which sold 21 million copies around the world. George Michael is considered one of the most successful singers in the world with sales of 85 million music works and twelve songs No. 1 in Britain and ten in the United States.
He was famous in the eighties and nineties for his singing style called (Post Disco) and (Dance Pop), which was able to achieve high sales with the albums: “Last Christmas” and “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go“.
Michael won numerous music awards throughout his life over the course of 30 years, including three Perrett Awards, two Best British Singer Awards twice, four MTV Music and Video Awards, four Ivor Novello Awards, three American Music Awards, and two Grammy Awards from eight nominations.
In 2004, the British Radio Academy named Michael as the most British singer whose songs were broadcast on the BBC during the period 1984-2004, and several documentaries were created about him, including (A Different Story), which was released in 2005 about his career and personal life. In 2006 Michael announced his first tour in 15 years, making about 25 trips around the world over three years (2006, 2007 and 2008). In 2016, Michael announced his second documentary about his life, Freedom, which will be announced in March 2017.
On December 25, 2016, George Michael passed away at home at the age of 53.
